Trusting in the God of hope

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

I’ve recently been reminded, as the Apostle Paul prayed in his letter to the Christians in Rome, that God is ready and willing to fill us with all joy, peace, and hope—to the point of overflowing. But this is possible only insofar as we trust Him.

I am challenged by this, as I say I trust God for all that I need. But if I really think about it, my doubt, worry, fear, and anxiety stem from a lack of trust in Him as perfect Love. There is nothing for which I cannot trust Him completely. My circumstances and trials may not look or unfold as I desire, but as I trust Him to be all that He is, and as I entrust everything to Him, I can know that He will be with me—always guiding, always caring, always redeeming—and this fills me with joy, peace, and hope.

I’m learning that there truly is a correlation between God’s hope, joy, and peace filling us to overflowing as we trust in Him.
