Awaiting Resurrection

“... he has risen, just as he said.” Matthew 28:6

I have to tell myself,
“It’s April;
you’ve made it through
the long winter.”

There’s still the lingering heaviness of
a hard season, and
a melancholy skeptic’s unsteady belief
the darkest days are behind me.

Where is the Hope
Promised to be found in Spring?
A Lenten journey always leads us Somewhere.
My soul has not caught up
to where the calendar or
Holy Week tell me
I am.

Bird’s song,
gentle rains,
mild breeze,
greening grass,
lengthening light...

Palm Sunday,
Maundy Thursday,
Good Friday,
Holy Saturday...

May I wrap myself in the assurances
of this good, old earth
The Giver has granted
through Love,
Mercy, Kindness, Redeeming Grace...

A Lenten journey always leads to Someone.
This Good, Beautiful Savior
The Giver has granted
through Himself,
Mercy, Kindness, Redeeming Grace…
and profoundly
Resurrection.
